Nice! I was working last week on my own Arthurian story, and that first quote to leave the enemy an escape route is key in an early scene. Love the way Arthur pulled the sword from the stone and how Bedwyr lost his hand. I guess we don’t get to follow him into the sidhe lands?
Actually in the next chapter, this was just an excerpt. The first half is posted, Aerons Flame, Aeron, was a Brythonic battle goddess, rivers, lakes, the lady of the lake, a Gwynyffyr, white phantom, chooser of the slain. I based this Arthur on the RioThamus. Merlin is based upon Myrddyn Wylt, Taliesin the sixth century poet that wrote the Gododdin.
Right now I am stuck, (no spoilers!) between wrapping it up in the historic context with an unexpected twist. Or, turning it into an Alternative History, where Arthur wins and founds a Romano-Celtic Empire. I want to do both! Lol.

I went and took a peek at the Merlin and animus chapter and saw those references!
Oh just wait, till you see what I am doing with Cerdic and Wessex! It's gonna outrage people!
Ooh.

Why not do both? Pick one and then write another book with the second epic.
