"Rednecks, Hillbillies, are descendants of settlers from Wales, Scotland, and Ulster." Well, that explains why most of them have Welsh, Scottish and Irish surnames....

And "Cracker" is derived from a Gaelic word for a boaster, huh? All this time I thought it had something to do with the cracker barrels in rural general stores...

Redneck was used by coal miners too when tying a red kerchief around their neck when they were fed up working for scrip. I had no idea it went back further. Nice article, at least this hillbilly thinks so. 🙂👏
