Reading this takes me back to the late aughts, back when I was still in college, studying world myth as part of my major in fiction. It reads like an old world legend, the epic of a warrior poet who is born, fights, lives, dies, and is born again. Thoroughly enjoyable.
A very good start to a good series. It's going to take a while to get through them.
