I have the theory that the Universal standard of Beauty is Anything that celebrates and encourages, Life.
I also believe those that embrace death, hate life.
What is death?
Some would claim death is merely an aspect of entropy
I argue that death is not an aspect of or product of Entropy.
Entropy provides the building blocks of life.
It is entropy that allows the growth of complexity.
Thermodynamics.
The first law is,
(1) Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed.
For example, potential energy, is transformed into kinetic energy. This transformation is expressed in the movement/acceleration of mass along a vector.
No energy is created , it is only transformed from the potential ( in quantum theory, the probability) into the kinetic.
(2) Entropy is the rule.
The simple explanation is, everything falls apart. Everything eventually breaks.
Order degenerates into chaos.
If, the Big Bang is correct.
A point, a singularity, of perfect order, went "bang".
That bang, brought light, and Space, and time into existence.
The explosion, the breaking apart of the perfect order, was the origin of the universe.
The very first thing that happened, was Light.
First, darkness. Then boom, light.
Light is the first phase of Life.
The beginning of space and time. The first, original expression of existence.
Thus,
Life is light.
What does this have to do with "beauty"?
Consider linguistic expressions of both Beauty and Love.
" The light of my eye."
"Like the dawn"
"Ethereal, like moonLight in the mist"
"She burns" "He blazes"
Consider expression of praise.
"Bright", "Bright as the morning"
Expression of Intelligence,
Also " Bright".
Each description, based upon a description and effect of Light.
So, if Light is the essence of beauty, then,
the absence of light is the essence of ugliness.
Light is the origin of existence;
Light is life.
What then is death?
In the material world, death is visceral, the effects of the end of life are decay, entropy displayed.
This raises the question.
Is everything in the material universe of space and time alive?
Is a lump of coal, alive?
No, it once was though.
Is a chunk of quartz alive?
No, and it never was.
What then is life?
The Encyclopedia Britannica defines life;
life, living matter and, as such, matter that shows certain attributes that include responsiveness, growth, metabolism, energy transformation, and reproduction. Although a noun, as with other defined entities, the word life might be better cast as a verb to reflect its essential status as a process.
https://www.britannica.com/science/life
Remember that last bit,
Life, though a Noun, acts as a Verb.
Consider the following;
The name of GOD, in Exodus is given as the active verb, to be. I am That I Am.
A verb used as a Noun.
GOD, the originator, creator of life is also called " The Alpha and Omega"; the beginning and the end.
Death.
the Roman author Pliny the elder, wrote that “so uncertain is men’s judgment that they cannot determine even death itself.”
The Bible presents death as separation: physical death is the separation of the soul from the body, and spiritual death is the separation of the soul from God.
The fifth edition of the American Heritage Dictionary defines Death ;
noun
The act of dying; termination of life.
The state of being dead.
The cause of dying.
In short,
In order for Death to occur, Life must first be in existence.
Death cannot occur with out life.
Death is NOT a state of matter.
Something that has never been Alive, cannot Die.
Death is not a state, it is an absence.
Just as Vacuum is not a state, it is an absence.
Therefore Death is relative to life, not matter, not energy.
Death is not a state of being, a state of energy or a state of matter.
Death is strictly defined as, the absence of life.
Flowers.
Flowers are universal standards of beauty.
Flowers, symbolize life, love, and attraction.
Flowers evolved, to attract pollinators, in order to facilitate the process of reproduction.
Bright colors, and pheromones that attract the attention of living pollinators.
Among animal life, Birds for example, bright plumage serves the same purpose.
Among humans, the standards of beauty/attraction revolve around qualities that depict fertility, and constructive capabilities.
In Females, fertility and physical fitness form the base.
In males, physical fitness and the capacity to protect and provide for both the female and children are the attractors.
I.E. the Biological basis of Beauty.
Thus, I present my premise ( was that pretentious enough? )
Beauty is a symbolic concept that celebrates Life and Birth.
Beauty also is a psychological concept, we call, Love, that celebrates Life and the preservation of Life.
Beauty is the Spiritual symbol and celebration of Light, Love, Life.
Notice the triune aspect.
Light- GOD /Creator, Love- Yeshua, Life- the Holy Spirit, a spiritual depiction of Creation/existence. In biological terms, Father/Male, Child, Mother/female.
This is considered "Good", Beautiful, The source of Life, Life itself.
If Good, is life, and life is beauty, then,
Bad, is death, the absence of life.
This world is divided between two base ideologies.
One celebrates Life.
One celebrates death.
One embraces beauty, growth, change, connection, life and love.
One embraces the ugliness of death, destruction, decay, hate.
I must also observe the abject hatred of not only GOD, the creator, but the very idea of GOD the creator displayed among those that embrace the ideologies of death and destruction.
The death ideologies must destroy beauty in order to celebrate death. Destruction is the celebration ritual of death.
In order to celebrate death, life must be destroyed. Both symbolic and physical destruction are required.
Therein is the irrevocable conflict between the two.
Death is not the opposite of life, death is the absence of life.
The cycle of life embraces the process of death in the reproduction, of life.
The ideology, worship, of death embraces only the destruction of life.
The great irony is Compost.
Composting destroyed dead things makes the Roses grow, the earth fertile.
Out of the destroyed beauty, new life, more beauty arises.
The agents of death only succeed in their destruction. In that destruction they are transformed into the thing they hate.
Which brings me to an admitted subjective personal belief.
The ideology of beauty, of life, and love,
Laughs.
The ideology of life embraces humor and displays a sense of humor , laughing at itself.
Life celebrates Life, love laughter, connection, growth and change.
The ideology of death has no ability to laugh at itself. It is the ideology of self absorption, of self destruction, of envy, hate, and desire.
The ideology of death is inherently narcissistic in nature.
Self obsession to the extreme of devouring itself.
Evil is never impersonal. It is always intensely personal and directed.
It took me some time to go through this, but it was an interesting read.
