I have spent years.
Decades fascinated and studying Atlantis.
Coupled with deep dives into Archeology, Anthropology, Marine Geology.
This is my conclusion.
Atlantis was a civilization, likely at least equal to the Chalcolithic Cultures of Europe. (The copper age, Vinca culture, Old Europe, Danube culture, Varna.)
Located within the Euxine basin, an Island in the ancient fresh water lake, that still exists trapped beneath the Black Sea.
I believe Atlantis, was linked with the civilization that built Goblekli Tepe. And that Varna, Vinca, and Old Europe cultures were built by surviving refugees from the great Black Sea flood, circa 6,500BC.
I think the glacial melting, world sea level rising and climate changes of that era are the basis of the Flood stories from Sumeria, The Bible, The Greeks, and the Atlantis story
I also think these conclusions will upset most theories being pushed.
However.
Plato was pretty specific when and where.
At the time of Plato, the Greeks refered to several different locations within the Black Sea, as, The Pillars Of Heracles. ( The association with Gibraltar came AFTER the time of Plato) All of Heracles Labors and Adventures occurred around the Black Sea.
The Greek Theogony, placed the Atlas mountains and the Garden of the Hesperides in what is now, Armenia/Georgia. NOT Morocco.
Before the Black Sea flood, Anatolia ( Turkey) was connected to Europe by a land bridge. Thus, a landmass greater than Europe and Asia of Platos day. Plato states clearly, that the city of Atlantis was an Island in the land, greater than Europe and Asia.
Plus, the date given, being about 9000 years before Plato, places it close to the estimated date of the Black Sea flood. ( The Greek Calendar of the time of Plato was a lunar calendar, NOT the calendar of today)
Thus,
My belief in Atlantis located in the Black Sea.
Archeology, Marine Geology, and Greek Mythology all point to the region.
I also theorize that the “magic” metal , Orichalcum, that Atlantis was supposed to posses was Copper. Possibly early forms of Bronze. While the rest of Europe, Eurasia, and Africa were still using Stone, Bone, Antler, and Wood.

Let the comments begin.
WOW that’s interesting… will re-read after breakfast, but it looks well researched… well done!
Fascinating ideas, especially the Copper/Bronze vs the bone and stones, you may be onto something Donn (as always).
